Collectors can commission an original Papiestro painting made for a specific wall, at a specific scale.

A commission is not a reproduction of a painting you have already seen. It is a new work made in the same language — the same layering, the same saturation, the same refusal to be quiet — answering a brief you set.

The studio takes on a small number of commissions each year, so that each one gets the time it needs. Requests are read personally and answered honestly.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    You write

    Scale, colours, the wall it is going on, the budget you have in mind, and what you respond to in the existing paintings.

  2. Step 2

    The studio answers

    Within five working days, with a yes, a no, or a counter-proposal. A commission is only taken on when the idea is genuinely interesting to paint.

  3. Step 3

    Deposit and start

    Fifty per cent to begin, the balance on completion. You see two progress photographs; you do not art-direct the surface.

  4. Step 4

    Delivery

    Six to twelve weeks depending on scale, signed, with a Certificate of Authenticity, crated and insured to your door.

The more specific you are about the wall and the light, the better the answer you will get back.

Sending a request does not confirm a commission. The studio takes on a small number each year and will say so plainly if yours is not one of them.
